Northern Beaches conditions

Much of the Northern Beaches sits on Hawkesbury sandstone, so footings often meet rock within a spade or two. The lagoon flats around Narrabeen and Collaroy are deep sand. Blocks on the Pittwater and harbour sides are steep, often with only stairs or a narrow path down the side of the house. Near the surf, salt wind burns soft plants and rusts ordinary screws.

These conditions decide how we drain walls, how deep we build footings, which screws we use in decks and which plants we choose.

Common questions

Are quotes free?

Yes. We look at the site and give you a clear price and what’s included, at no cost and with no obligation.

Do you take small jobs?

Yes. We build everything from a short sleeper wall, a set of steps or a new lawn to a whole back yard in stages.

Can you work on a steep block with only stairs?

Yes. Many Northern Beaches blocks have no machine access. We build smaller jobs by hand, carry the materials in and price access into the quote.

Which areas do you cover?

The Northern Beaches from Manly to Palm Beach, and inland to Frenchs Forest, Belrose and Elanora Heights.

Can a big job be done in stages?

Yes. We usually build walls and drainage first, then paving and turf, then planting, so you can spread the work over time.

What should I send with my enquiry?

The job, your suburb and a photo if you have one. A rough size helps too, but isn't needed.
